2011 Design Montréal Open House
The countdown has begun |

| In a few days, the doors of the 75 offices, agencies and presentation venues participating in the 5th Design Montréal Open House will be opening to welcome adults and kids who are eager to learn more about the people who are shaping our living environment. Contest

| Mark the combined anniversaries of Montréal's designation as a UNESCO City of Design and the annual Design Montréal Open House by displaying your support for Montréal designers. The module enables you to create a personalized image highlighting your favourite production, drawn from a bank of glasses inspired by the 5th anniversary campaign. Entrants in the competition can win an iPad 2, and the designers behind the most popular glasses will go and lounge at the Bota Bota floating spa. |

Evening festivities
DESIGNER_MIX |

| MUTEK and the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) join the Ville de Montréal's Bureau du design in celebrating the 5th anniversary of Montréal's designation as a UNESCO City of Design. DESIGNER_MIX is dedicated to Berlin, Buenos Aires and Montréal, the first three cities to become part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as designated "Cities of Design." On the program are performances by SOL DE RIO, DEADBEAT, LILLEVAN, POLE and CHANCHA VIA CIRCUITO. Come and celebrate with Montréal designers at the SAT, starting at 10 p.m. Free admission. |

CODE Poster
Exhibition of winners in the CODE international poster competition at the Centre de design de l'UQAM |

| Following the exhibition of winning entries in the Montréal section of the competition at Atelier Punkt in September 2010, it is now the turn of the winning posters from all participating UNESCO Cities of Design to be shown in Montréal. Designers were invited to set out the visual identity of a UNESCO City of Design, portraying the outstanding aspects of each city. The exhibition will be presented at the Centre de design de l'UQAM from June 2 to 26. |

CODE Souvenir
64 gift items by 27 designer-producers and distributors are chosen |

| After the call for proposals was issued on February 17, 40 Montreal-based designer-producers and distributors submitted a total of 139 gift items aimed at institutional buyers. All of the gift items will be on view and available for sale at the Centre de design de l'UQAM as part of the CODE Affiche exhibition (2-26 juin) and a catalogue including all of the gift items will be available shortly. |

International Ideas Competition in Urban Design
The Moving Landscapes competition is announced |

| Québec Transport Minister Sam Hamad announced on May 20 the holding of an international ideas competition in urban design ideas dealing with the route between Montréal–Trudeau international airport and downtown Montréal, along the Highway 20 corridor. This is a unique opportunity for professionals to create a true world-class gateway corridor for Montréal and, accordingly, for Québec as a whole. All competition documents will be available at www.mtlunescodesign.com as of June 9. |

Proclamation
World Interiors Day |

| The Montréal International Interior Design Show is over and the Ville de Montréal was pleased to join the members of professional associations working in the interior design field in marking the World Interiors Day on May 28, 2011. In its proclamation, the city endorses the values promoted by the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) in its February 18 declaration. |
