Designers and architects, you now have until December 7 to submit your pre-registration for the Design Montréal Open House!
For the past three years, the Design Montréal office has organized the Design Montréal Open House event. The next edition will be held May 1–2, 2010, and you are invited to register your firm.
Design professionals (architects / landscape architects / interior designers / industrial designers / graphic designers / fashion designers / urban designers) who have won awards in 2009 (or in 2008 in the case of biennial awards) are invited to open the doors to their office or workshops and/or present an award-winning Montréal project (e.g., residence, building, park) that can be visited in situ.
In 2009, the third edition of the Design Montréal Open House attracted a record number of visitors. In all, 20,955 visits were logged—double the previous year’s total!
*Since there is no local fashion design competition, a selection committee is created by the Bureau de la mode de Montréal. You can reach the Bureau de la mode at 514 872-MODE (6633) if you wish to be part of the designer selection.
WHY BE PART OF THIS EVENT?
By taking part in the Open House, you help members of the public:
- discover the design and architecture disciplines
- dispel preconceived notions about these professions
- demonstrate the diversity and talent of Montréal designers
This is the perfect opportunity for you to stand out. Why not take advantage of the event to present a new creation! Hold a launch, vernissage, creation workshop, screening or entertaining activity…
You can also issue an invitation to your clients and suppliers and offer them a personalized welcome. The time is ripe to remind them that your work has won awards and that you’re being showcased among the city’s very best!
Designers and architects who agree to open their doors do so for a variety of reasons. Here are some examples:
- Contribution to the growth of design
- Engagement with the design community; employee pride
- Free visibility
- Development of business partnerships
Etc.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, your office/workshop must:
- be located in Montréal;
- have won a design award in 2009 (or in 2008 in the case of biennial awards); or be a finalist or winner in a project or concept competition in 2009; or be chosen by the Bureau de la mode de Montréal selection committee*;
